We bought some of these for our Sonos controllers and I found they're perfect for my Sony PRS-505 too. Waterproof to 15ft, costs £21.

depending on what it looked like I'd say yes, I take long hot baths and have been worrying for years about dropping my 500 into the water, same as when Im in the pool on the floaters.
What Im more worried about though is dropping my reader on the floor again when i read in the sun, makes me sleep and even with the official book cover on I managed to completely scratch up the nice blue metal and put a dent in the corner ![]() |

http://www.aquapac.net/ukstore/erol.html#598X1141 Would you mind advising how snug the fit of the Sonos one is for the Sony PRS-505 and whether it has a lanyard on it please? Finally, are you comfortable with the protection level, given that i assume you take the PRS-505 out of its case? Would you perceive any benefit in using a silicon sleeve with it? Many thanks, Tracey |

Here's a photo of it in action. I find the fit perfect - not too snug that you can't get it in but close enough that it doesn't rattle around. There's about an inch or two of space at the top of the pouch but I let that hang down over my hand and it partly takes the weight of the device. The translucent blue bits are slightly rubberised and give a good grip. As for protection I wouldn't chuck it in a rucksack just in this case but it's brilliant for the bath - my already lengthy baths are even longer now! Goes great with bubbles... I don't know whether you'd be able to get the Sony in there inside a silicone sleeve - I just swap between the "leather" case that came with the device for normal reading and transport and the Aquapac for bath time. ![]() Larger photo here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/7717811...61909/sizes/o/ Andrew |

Pressing the buttons is fine, it's hardly noticeable it's in a case. Andrew |

Hi Andrew,
Thanks very much for posting the reply and taking the time to photograph the Sony in the bag; I shall order one today! My dilemma is solved as well as they are both by Aquapac and i had worked out from their website that the 364 has the most suitable dimensions. Kind regards, Tracey |

AquaPac makes a great product. There are several similar bags on the market, Japanese-made instead of British-made, with even stronger locking bars. Actually metal bars instead of plastic, with screw-down locking knobs. I've used them for cameras down to 15 meters underwater, but wouldn't take them lower despite the manufacturer's claim to be waterproof to 35 meters. Definitely wouldn't work for deco stops. But then, I don't know if the Sony 505 could handle the pressure of tech dives? Years ago I had some Nikon cameras seize up in EwaMarine bags at 40 meters, as the pressure wouldn't let me operate the buttons. Stayed dry but wouldn't function. Alsosak bags are rated to 100 ft, and are certainly strong enough, but I'd prefer the bags made specifically for diving if I'm taking the 505 into the sea. For beach, rain, or pool, one dollar Alosaks are fine.

My Aquapac has arrived and it is excellent, just what i needed for beach reading!
Just to confirm, i chose the large PDA one which is the 364. It look exactly like the one Andrew has photographed and included in an earlier post. UK buyers may be interested to know that it is currently available for £12.49 with free postage from http://www.7dayshop.com I had not bought from them before but the transaction was smooth and delivery was quick. |

Slight update from me - the one I've been using for the last seven months has a tiny (invisible) tear/crack/split in the bottom corner where the Sony rests so I wouldn't necessarily recommend them for total immersion if you use it regularly. Still brilliant for wet hands in the bath or poolside though. Andrew |

Thanks Tracey, I've just ordered one. Definitely don't want anything to happen to my 505!

You are very welcome Ruth; i hope you like it when it arrives. Like you, i want to protect my investment and to be covered for every eventuality, so the cost of the pouch is a small price to pay for safe beach use!

TrendyDigital waterprrof case for sony eReader
Here is a follow up on my previous posting about the waterproof case.
We have a version of waterproof bag for the Sony eReader series now. The transparent window is approximately 6 3/4 " X 5 " ( or 17cm X 12.5 cm). The border has 2 different color choices ( blue or purple). You can put the 505 reader with its Sony cover ( folding back) into this waterproof case. Here is an image to show what it look likes ![]() Please check out the further specification from our site www.trendydigital.com directly at WaterGuard Waterproof Case for Sony Reader |
