I think this is what they are talking about in regards to car computers. Real computers in the vehicle.

Quote:
Ford is purposely installing these computers in trucks and vans to appeal to contractors, farmers, and construction workers to turn these cars into “mobile offices.” Truck owners will be able to use the in-dash browser to access sales information, contact databases, job-site plans, inventory lists, calendars, e-mail, or even the weather.

The Ford Work Solutions in-dash computer is integrated into the vehicle’s center stack, filling the same space normally occupied by the standard radio. It is equipped with a 6.5-inch, high-resolution touch screen, four gigabytes of memory, a secure digital slot for added memory, a USB port, a wireless keyboard, a mouse, and a bluetooth-enabled, battery-powered inkjet printer.

"MR while you drive" . Sounds a bit dangerous, actually. I wonder if they'll make it like the way in-car TV's have to be in the UK: only functional while the vehicle is stationary?

Then MR would *really* be mobile. I should hope drivers aren't fooling with their computers while driving. It freaks me out if I have to do anything with my GPS while moving.

On my windows cell phone I can connect to the internet while in the car and the coverage is excellent for almost everywhere I travel. And since I can tether the phone to a laptop I could use that to connect to the internet. It's not nearly as fast as my home connection but it's faster than dial-up.

TV's in the US have to be visible to the back seat occupants only while the car is moving.

It's the same here, Bob. I was referring to "in dash" TVs. Eg, my car has a TV option for the same screen used for the Sat Nav, but it only operates as a TV while the vehicle is stationary. As soon as you put it in gear, the TV is disabled. No problem at all having back-seat TVs.
