Great! I think you are making a well-informed decision and will be happy. Are you presently in Italy? Is the earthquake going to hamper shipping for you?

As I expected I am doubting myself again. I realized that the only thing that is important to me is the number of books available for my Ebook reader. I don't read much fiction and am picky about which books I do pick up. When it comes to non-fiction reading its important to be able to find the book you are looking for. So, I'm going with the Kindle, BLEH. At least it has the built in dictionary.

I'm not sure why you are going with the Kindle when you don't live in the US? The BeBook and the Cybook can both access eBooks in Mobipocket (DRM & non-DRM) format which can be purchased from various eBook retailers around the world. Do you have examples of the eBooks you are looking for which can only be found at Amazon? Have you checked any of the other eBook Retailers in the Wiki to see if they have the same title?

My deployment is almost through and until I get back to Hawaii I can still use it by simply downloading things on to my laptop and USBing them to the Kindle2, no biggie.

I did browse all of the retailers and found that Mobi+Amazon>Mobi+Other formats.

So since the Kindle2 has the most books available, particularly in non-fiction, I was forced to choose the Kindle2 for that simple reason.

I understand now! The Kindle does look attractive for someone in the US or with a US credit card. Being in Canada the Kindle was off my list from the beginning.

I think that once ePub with Adobe's DRM comes to more eink readers, then we'll see the publishers putting out more eBook in ePub and that if this happens, eventually, it could becomes the defacto standard.
