Ok, I am so ticked off right now - they couldn't tell people about the slim case? If I had known that one was coming out and in colors no less, I definitely would have brought that one instead of the standard one. Ok, gotta go and look at that one. Weatherman, you just brought yours, so I would imagine you should be able to return it with no problem. THanks Octochick for more updates, where do you get your info? You are definitely in the "know".

![]() I'm happy with my case. I doubt I would return it. The more I use my M-Edge, the more I grow accustomed to its bulk, and more importantly, to its protection and generally swanky feel. While I suppose it might be nice to have something a little lighter and slimmer, I don't think having both would make a lot of sense, though I have been known to make impulsive purchases... |

so have I which is why I agree with your assessment. I am sticking with my Prodigy M-edge case as well. I, like you have gotten accustomed to the bulk of it and like the feel of it. By the way, I have the same exact one you have. The mocha brown...hmm...great minds, you know the rest.

Even though I'm really liking the idea of the integrated light, one of the things I'm not sure if I would like for day-to-day use is the outside strap (the one that keeps it closed). In my usual routine around the house, I often open and close my existing Amazon Kindle cover hundreds of times a day, or leave it open on the table or couch reading it in between other things. Having to do and undo the strap each time isn't really conducive to that kind of use. Though if the strap can kinda just hang there without being used until you actually need it to keep it closed, that's not so bad. It'd be a matter of seeing how "in the way" that strap is when you don't need it's functionality.

But for around-the-home use, the strappy version is just fine too; the strap tucks nicely behind the Kindle (between the Kindle and the back of the case) and is completely out of the way. It can be left there indefinitely. That's where I put it when I'm reading. |

great review, weatherman. thanks.
I would like to mention another alternative to M-edge or amazon case. The MaxGuard eReader Jacket for Kindle 2 from www.trendydigital.com features a lighter and slimmer profile ( net weight: 5.8 ounces). It use an enclosed compartment to secure the kindle 2 and also protect the side navigation button. The case is available both from trendydigital's web site and amazon.com. Here is the image of what the case look like. ![]() The same company also introduced a waterproof case specifically for Kindle 2. Here is what it looks like ![]() Indeed, I will start another topic to post more detail information on these cases. |

Returned my Prodigy directly to M-Edge, no problem with them issuing a refund, 'No Questions Asked'. They are a good supplier, I just wanted to go in a different direction.

UPDATE TO THE ORIGINAL REVIEW:
After spending a couple of weeks with the M-Edge Prodigy, I no longer miss my old PRS-500 cover. In fact, I scoff at it. Sure the Prodigy is significantly bulkier and heavier, but frankly the real leather of the M-Edge is so much more comfortable to hold in my hand. It just feels good. I generally like the way that the case is wearing too, picking up some nice marks the way leather does. My only complaint is that the extra space to the left of the Kindle inside the case - the space intended for M-Edge's lighting system - is bending in an irregular way. You can see it in the picture below - it's sort of getting a curvature to the end of the case, almost like the spine of a book. I assume this is because of the way that I read it, with the front flipped around to the back, and also because there is nothing inside the case to help it hold its original shape. Perhaps with the lighting system installed this wouldn't happen. But in any case it's not that big a deal and it seems to have reached its final shape, which is fine and actually very comfortable to hold. All in all I do not regret buying the M-Edge Prodigy case one bit, and I'd recommend them to suit most people's needs. |
