I assume that the pdf zoom issue would be easily remedied (when applicable) by converting to lrf or lit format?

Yes, although I didn't check the lrf or lit formats, changing the text size in epub files worked very well. I haven't tried converting any PDF's yet, although I've been reading about the programs. But, from what I've seen and read it looks like the 700 would work for me.
