Whereas standard novels need 1-2 megs only (I use .txt and .rtf formats) - I have a PRS-505 without any memory card because even when I loaded 60+ books in the reader I used up only ~100 MB out of the internal 192.
So 512 MB is quite enough for the masses. Those few who feel it necessary to have more will/can choose another gadget.
