Thanks you all for your nice work
I tried gwynevans trick to change the version number to a higher number in eBookUpdater\assets\updaterAssets\PRSVersion.dat and it works very well. very easy to do to for a beginner like me! |

Can anyone help me with this firmware downgrade? I'm so desperate and have tried all of the methods and I'm still stuck with 25200.
I tried dpierron's method of editing the .XML file but it didn't seem to work - is there some particular software that I need to edit .XML files? After following his instructions, I only get a grey frozen updater dialog window like PJ45 experienced in post #15, when I try to run the PRSUpdater 18040 I've tried GwynEvans method of tricking the PRSUpdater 18040 by altering the PRSVersion.dat file. I assume that I just can edit it through Notepad? Please let me know if this is not the case and I should be editing the .dat file with some other program. The same result happens as the dpierron's method - frozen grey dialog window... I tried Zaesev's method of deleting all of the files on the Reader itself to no avail. Although I'm pretty sure that I'm not deleting the firmware files. The only folder I see the root directory is "database" - can someone direct me to the folder(s) that the firmware resides in? Where is the system partition? Can someone help me access it? Again, would really really appreciate any help here - so desperate............. ![]() |

GwynEvans Method worked great for me...
I did update the eBookUpdater\assets\updaterAssets\PRSVersion.dat file - just open with notepad to edit and change the version number for a higher one like 110125201, this way it will think you are "upgrading " to a higher version. then run the updater as normal. version will be1.1.00.18040. That is not downgrading since the number only shows a different country not an older version. good luck. |

According to boroda the only difference between 1.1.01.25200 and 1.1.00.18040 is THE VERSION NUMBER.
By the way, the easiest way to "downgrade" is actually corresponding new_opt.img file + igorsk's flasher (and then: 4 - copy, 6 - flash). You also might want to try out this: http://code.google.com/p/prs-plus/ |
