I'd think Amazon is very popular. There are 2 places I go for books Amazon.co.uk and Abebooks.co.uk (they sell second-hand, out-of-print). I don't think I've shopped for books at any other places online like Waterstones, maybe a few rare things on Ebay from time to time. Where Wizpac might have an advantage is if Amazon delays too long on releasing a European version. If Wizpac sneaks in there with a decent enough store, maybe partnering with Waterstones and the like, they have a good shot of stealing Amazon's thunder. It's a German company, and we've already heard of the big ebook push in Germany, so there's another reason it might gain ground. I know that if I had the choice, and solely on how the device looks, I'd go for the Txtr over the Kindle. It just has a...I don't know, certain something about it that's very appealing. |

Found an older video on gHacks ...
I love the looks of the prototype even more than the finished device ![]() |

I'm hoping they still do some additional work on the design. The prototype looks nicer as do the computer generated models. Maybe a slightly different color than the stark white will help it.

I just wanted to bump up this thread and ask a couple of questions. Of all the ebook readers out there this is my favourite, based on the videos I haven't seen anything that compares with it in terms of page turning performance. Are there any readers on the market currently with the newer epson controller and fast page turning like this book? Lastly would like to add that I think the 500+mhz cpu should be adding to that snappiness, especially when processing complicated pdfs, etc... cheers!

I don't know about any other readers, sorry, but this one is top of my list, form and function all wrapped up in a tiny, beautiful looking machine. I can't wait until we get a release date on this thing.
Oh, and welcome ![]() |

Moejoe, you're not alone. I can't wait for this one to roll out, but if they take too long it may lose it's appeal. I'm curious to see what Sony will do with a next gen version of the 505.

Sorry to say, and I hate to break this to you, but it might be a little while longer for North America than 3rd Quarter 2009. I can't confirm this, but from the translation of the article, it looks like Txtr have to get some deals in place before it can happen. Take heart though, we still haven't got a Kindle in Europe yet and how many years has it been since that was released ![]() |

I want to see them allow the people in Taiwan and Hong Kong who make the accessory cell phone faceplates to make accessory covers for E-readers.
![]() ![]() I always got those for our old Nokia phones, and I like them better than skins |

Take the case apart and break out a can of Krylon Fusion or even the style that gives a "hand hammered" metal finish look. Five or ten coats then a seal coat and it could look pretty spiffy. Then again your warranty would likely go poof.
