Hacks List of Kindle 2 Screensavers

Out of curiosity, is there any way of determining all the screen-saver images available in your Kindle, other than by noting each one in turn as the Kindle goes to sleep?

I have a Kindle2 and I have not yet seen John Milton, Lewis Carol or Edgar Allen Poe. I cannot identify the "Fish" but here is my list:

Is there an easy way of finding out which screensavers are present on your Kindle? Or is just a matter of checking the screen each time you switch the device off?

Could you replace the images with your own and just rename them exactly the same as the Kindle screensaver files? Rather than all the hacking that is necessary otherwise?

Does anyone have the actual files to the K2i? I am looking specifically for the screen shot of someone sitting under a tree and the definition of the Kindle in the bottom right. Thanks in advance.

As far as I know, you have to "hack" it, otherwise there would have been no reason for a screen-saver hack in the first place. The hack apparently causes the images in the screensaver folder to be read and copied (and possibly otherwise processed?) to somewhere else on the Kindle when you do a Restart, presumably that "somewhere" not being normally accessible without the hack.

Yep. My SS hack (and probably every other one, too ) automatically makes a backup of the original SS the first time it's launched.

Here's the one you're looking for. (k2 & kDX)

I could copy the list of the filenames here, but that wouldn't be very helpful, given that, appart from this one, they're using some kind of hash for the name. (ie. 03_HU013742_600.gif is Virginia Woolf)

And, yes, we need a hack, because the folder where they are stored is not in the USB User Store partition, but in the Kindle's system partition, and we can only access it through the system itself. So, what our hacks do, at boot, is either copy the custom ss from the usb us partition to the system partition, or, make the system see our custom directory in the usb us partition instead of the original ss folder in the system partition.

One of the reasons I hacked the kindle was because I usually ended up with just three or four of the screensavers. I never saw many of the ones listed here. Floor plan? Woman with book? Sextant? Constellation, John Milton, Lewis Carroll, Medieval illumination page, Albertus page? usually just scary Emily or Edgar Allen for me.

I am new here and just found your hacks and installed last night. They work great but I would like to add some of the orignal screensavers back but can't find them. Where can I find the originals? Thanks for the detail install instructions.
