Elsi has brought it to my attention that it could be useful to have the contact info of a different person as well, in case you've stopped posting because you broke both your arms and can't answer your own mail / telephone. so keep that in mind please.

Seeing as Queen Zee already has my "contact info", and as this thread has been frequented by enough folk that their subscription to the thread will likely provide an awareness sufficient to advise others should it in the unlikely event be raised as an issue, I just thought I'd pop in here to say that...
Although it is of little consequence, and for such a brief time that it unlikely anyone would notice or care about the absence, I will be absent from any contact (disconnected entirely) from Tuesday morning (including the sleepy-time from midnight) until Thursday evening, all of this Brisbane, Australia time (<---linky). I just mention it on the off-chance that someone has an inexplicable attack of feelings of abandonment and needs to make a connection with everyone in their address book, and I happen to be in there. FWIW, I'm flying solo (metaphorically, not literally), taking my psyche away from the hectic chaos of Noosa for a couple of nights and days of rest, relaxation, serenity and hermitage in the middle of the most population-dense city in Australia (Sydney). Alas, for those who enjoy his company, Adrian will be accompanying me (possibly belying my "flying solo" bit, but I consider his invisibility and likely lack of actual existence in any kind of objective reality a reasonable way of avoiding paying for two airfares). Wish me well, or at least no ill. Cheers, Marc PS. I realise I could have just said, "Not here: Tuesday-Thursday" |

So, the next few days are just a short return to a place that I, particularly during those 8 years, called "home". Eight years was the longest I'd lived anywhere in my life. I loved Sydney, as I love Noosa, though for exceedingly different reasons. Sydney's disordered patterns and blurred speed and crowded and colliding chatter were, oddly (in that seemingly contradictory way) sympathetic with my neurotic introversion and desire for isolation. As they often say, it's very easy to be alone in the city. I sometimes think I miss that. Part of the reason for my visit is to see if, and if so, how, I've changed. City life, 1000km north to surfside tourist-town life, had more extreme changes in it than just geographical location. The pace here is slow and relaxed, and any solitude and calm comes from the polite courtesy of people in the respite-mood that vacation in a place of natural beauty brings. It's different...very. I found being one of many like a comfortable cocoon. You could just "be". Then, I moved away to a quiet mountain lake community. For some reason, everyone was in everyone's business and always "stopping by"(friendly but so much for quiet!)
Then, I moved back to a suburb of my hometown and had to readjust to the feeling of "too much" everything. Seven years now and back to feeling comfortable in the cocoon but missing the landscape ![]() |

Well Marc, you and the transparent one fly (metaphorically) safely (literally.) We'll be anxiously awaiting to hear of your adventures (or lack thereof) while away from us.
