FYI, I bought one of these today with the case included at Borders in LA (Westwood) on sale for $19, down from $39. It rang up as a "Promo".

Hi,
I'm new to the forum, but I have a LightWedge and thought that I might respond to a previous post about some defects... I had an older full page (original) LightWedge and was happy with it. After purchasing a Kindle 2, I read some reviews on Amazon about various lights and the LightWedge was mentioned. I got out mine and tried it and felt that it should work well, but the original size was a little large. Other posts had mentioned that the paperback size seemed to work well (at least with the original Kindle) so I ordered one from one of the Amazon sellers with a good price for the light and the soft case in one package (which I would recommend because the plastic can potentially scratch easily if not protected--I leave my original in the box it came in with protective foam). When the new paperback size arrived I discovered two things: the LED's used in the newer product have a brighter more bluish white tint (which I liked better) than the original which had a slightly more manilla/yellow-orange tint. the new LightWedge seemed to be scratched. When I looked more closely under magnification, I found that the "scratches" were not on the surface but bubbles and some contaminants (a couple of small fibers or hairs) within the plastic itself. When I compared this to the original, there seemed to be a definite difference in quality. I contacted the seller and he was gracious enough to accept the return (but only had the one in stock) so I reordered from another seller. I also found that Barnes and Nobles had them in stock (without the soft cover) but the prices were a little better from the Amazon sellers. I believe that this was an isolated case, but thought others should know in case they receive one that is not crystal clear also. RandyRRT |

I thought I'd try the paperback size...and was very disappointed. The quality of the plastic is way unacceptable....many tiny bubbles and imperfections that distract from the experience, the light doesn't illuminate the page evenly...many dark spots, it doesn't physically fit the Kindle...awkward to hold in place, and finally, it just doesn't provide enough light for my taste. So in the drawer it goes with other book lights I didn't care for.
I haven't found anything to beat the Mighty Bright XtraFlex2 Clip-On Light yet...but I'm hoping I will since that light is really to bulky for conveniently carrying around. Works great from my night stand, but doesn't go in the brief case to go with me for the day (my Kindle does go with me). Perhaps the re-designed M-Edge Illuminator will be the magic combination of small, easy to carry around, and gives good light. Just my experience, but perhaps it will help someone else. Randyrrt & goggin, thanks for the info. I'm still looking for a light and will be happy for any suggestions. I do use my K2 without a cover so it would really need to attach to the Kindle itself. Again, Thanks!

Hey Old Man,
I have the Kindle 2 and a http://www.amazon.com/Mighty-Bright-...9103849&sr=1-2 This will clip directly to the Kindle 2 without a cover. As others have mentioned it is a bit bulky but does give good light. I use it mostly in dimly lit restaurants and it serves the purpose. pluses; 2 levels of light, clips on to Kindle without cover negatives; bulky, glare off screen unless carefully oriented I will eventually find something to replace this but for now it does the job and the price is right. ![]() |

Thanks, NormHart!
Decided to order on your recommendation. Clipping directly to the K2 was my #1 priority. Like you I will continue to search for something less bulky. |
