It's sort of a "bridge" I guess you could call it. Basically installing the Sony library also installs the driver that DE needs.

I actually don't think there is a Sony "account" at all. It is really a Waterstones account that you create. I would say, don't use the Sony software at all.

Because the Sony bookstore doesn't have distribution rights on the US books to sell in the UK. (Once again, there is a way around this, but I am trying not to confuse you and giving you the "out-of-the box" info.

Hey bob thanx for nursing me through this with paitence!
So step by step then is this correct.

1.install sony software on pc that comes with reader.
2. Download and install adobe digital.
3.log in to adobe digital using her sisters details.
4.connect ebook to pc and let it self install.
5.download ebooks from libary on adobe digital. ?

sorry to be a pain your paitence is a virtue!

By George, I think he's got it.

Yes, looks right. I would add step 4a...

Buy Secure Adobe books from Waterstones or Fictionwise or BooksOnBoard or etc.

Ok cool do they need to be format changed before the sony reader will reconise them, or do they come in sony friendly formats?

If you buy Secure Adobe they will be either ePub or PDF both of which can be read by the Sony 505/700. (Although some don't like the PDF presentation). So no conversion needed.

That should work, yes.. but not guaranteed 100%.

ePub is said to display better than PDF. But, that is just opinion. It may be that you have no choice in many cases.

Oh right so when she buys a book on waterstones for example after payment will it launch adobe to download and install it? at which point she will log in?

Her sister said something about sending ebooks via email link? does that work?

why what formats does sony support?
