The only thing I see with the K2 is that Amazon put the home button where a page turn button should be. The top button should be the next page and the button under that should be the previous. There is plenty of room to put the home button someplace else that does not have to take away a page turn button. So for those who are right handed, it means if you want to go back a page, you'll need to use your left hand for that when you were using your right hand for holding/page turning.

I do like that the page turn buttons are not so large and are now a lot less prone to accidental presses.

That I disagree with. When holding the device the next page button will fall under your thumb in the K2 design.

What they should have done is make the HOME button be a prev page button.

Then on the joystick they should have put the HOME button under the joystick rather than the BACK button. The can put the back button on the keyboard... or nowhere. I seldom use the back button on my Kindle.

I agree. It's not like you use the Home button nearly so often. It was fine where it was on the keyboard.

I hadn't noticed the home button where the prev button is supposed to be located. I agree with Bob that this is a mistake. I hold the Kindle with my left hand for a while and then switch to my right hand when my hand gets tired (no jokes please). It's a major design flaw to not have one hand operation with either hand. The Home key should either have been moved above the Prev key or below the Back key. I do use the Back key when reading footnotes.

I think the main reason its looks so big is because of all the wasted whitespace around the edges.

Yeah, that has a lot to do with it..makes me wonder just how much of that whitespace is really used.

It's one of those optical illusions. It's exactly the same size as the K1's screen.

Jon's right. It's the same size as the K1, the Sony, the Cybook...and all the other 6" devices. It's an optical illusion, as is the fact that the same screen will look lighter/darker depending upon the color of the surrounding frame.

I've never really understood this complaint about the buttons. It took me about an hour to get used to holding it comfortably without accidentally pressing anything. It's easy, especially if you keep it in the original cover.

I hold the 505 with one hand and the page next button is above the page previous . But, the way I hold the 505 has to do withthe weight distribution of the device. It's heavier towards the bottom then the top so I hold it middleish/just above the middle.

How I would hold the K2 would depend on it's weight distribution and given that it has the keyboard on the bottom, my guess is that it's heavier towards the bottom then the top so I'd probably hold it in a similar place as I do the 505. Thus, the easiest button to access is where the home button is and that would be the place to put the page next button instead with the page previous right under.

I agree. It was a much bigger concern before I purchased it than after I received and started using it. I typically use an M-Edge case, but even "naked" (the Kindle, not me) I don't have the problem.

I like to hold my K1 about two inches higher than the guy in the picture -- and with more of my fingers wrapped around it. I just flex my thumb, and the ball of my thumb presses the "next page" button. On the K2, the buttons supposedly push inward rather than outward. Wonder if I can still use the ball of my thumb on them.

P.S. I figured the bigger, moved HOME button was for those with sight issues, so it wasn't SOO hard to find (such as perhaps Dixie). The back button is useful when you are going through nested menus, such as reading reader comments about a book before you buy it. Otherwise, not so much.

You can HOME from the Menu too. It is on pretty much every menu. Just click the Select Wheel... choose home and click it again.

That would be me. Yes, I have turned pages on purpose with my nose when my other hand was otherwise occupied.
