Anyone have any suggestions as to where to buy one? Is it best to go directly thru Sony or should I go elsewhere? We do have a Sony store within about 40 miles of where we live.
Also, I was considering the red one. What is everyones color preference?
After posting on here today I am so excited that I am tempted to go by one NOW! I wouldn't want to take that much out of the bank tho. Does anyone do the 6 month same as cash deal? I could use birthday money to pay it off later.

I was just at a local Target store this past Saturday and it was $299.
If it was $269 I would have talked my husband into buying one right then. I'll keep checking though.

I have the blue, but if I did get one again I'd probably go for the red (although I do love my blue). They are offering a limited edition Red with a bunch of harlequin deals if you are interested.

Also, run by Circuit City. They had them cheaper because of the liquidation, I just don't know if they'd have any left.

There were no RED ones local to me so I ordered online
at Frys.

If you go to Amazon and search sony 505.. you can find
the different electronic stores that sell the 505 and which

They are showing Silver, Red and Blue are all in stock and free shipping for $268.95. They also have a Silver demo unit for $245.

I like the blue (since I own one) as the outside doesn't blend with the screen. The silver would blend with the screen too much for me. The red looked a little bold when I saw one at the Sony store.

I got the silver, since it was all that was in stock. But I like it. However, I'm coming from my beloved turd brown colored EBW1150, so anything is an improvement in looks. Oh, how I loved and miss it! [sighs, dabs at a single tear]

You could apply for the Sony Visa card online (I got instant acceptance) and that will get you $100 off your first Sony Style or Sony Style store purchase of $299 or higher. The $100 comes back later as a credit. (Make sure that is still offered.)

You can get the two-year accidental damage protection and a charger for $45, by using the special $40-off for purchase of the protection and a certain accessory (the charger is the cheapest accessory offered in this special).

If you buy from the Sony Style store, the benefit, I believe, is that you can take it back within 30 days. (You can also spend time playing with all three 505 colors and the PRS-700.)

I did all of the above. Haven't yet got my $100 credit.

I just checked the Sony site and that offer with the $100 credit is still there. Qualifying shouldn't be a problem but I want to make sure I understand this. Are you saying after qualifying I would get the reader for $199? I know that initially I would be charged the whole amount but eventually the $100 would come off my card. Is that right?
Do you know whether they have so many months same as cash by using their card?

Yes. $299 charged to your credit card. Then according to the site grooks linked, you will get a "$100 Statement Credit ... posted to your Sony Card Statement within 8-12 weeks from Qualifying Purchase."

Sorry, I'm not familiar with what is meant by "same as cash". I got mine the end of Dec. and just got my first bill, if that's what you mean. Hope the link grooks gave can help.

Also, when I got my credit card at the end of Dec., the terms were a little different, requiring me to take advantage of the $100 credit offer by January 31, 2009. I don't see any deadline now.

I also thought that this statement was ambiguous: "Your first single sales receipt purchase made at a SonyStyle store, including SonyStyle.com equal or greater than $299 ("Qualifying Purchase") will automatically qualify you for a $100 Statement Credit."

Did they mean your very first Sony Style purchase? Or your first Sony Style purchase of $299 or greater? I was careful to make the PRS-505 purchase my first from Sony Style, though that may not have been necessary.
