Def. no rule or law against selling a product for more than the list price, but generally the store would offer you something back if you make a big enough fit. Even though it's just to get rid of you.

Ummmm .... there is a law that says you can't play bait and switch or lie to the customer in a way that constitutes fraud. That's true no matter what it says on the receipt.
I would suggest that your girlfriend contact the store again, and inform them that she is lodging a complaint with the Florida Attorney General's office against the store for fraud. She went into the store for a Sony 700, and they gave her a 505, making her think she was getting something she did not in fact get. She should be polite, but firm. Explain to the store that she was lied to, and that an attorney she knows (me) has instructed her to pursue an action in fraud (and negligent misrepresentation) against the store, including punitive damages, as well as to report the store to the Atty Gen. Oh, and my sister was also a cast member - only in Anaheim. I would also suggest that she inform Disney of the name of the store (or chain) and let them know exactly what they did to her. Oh ... and if it's a chain, screw dealing with the management of that store. She should contact and complain (as noted above) directly at the corporate level. National level chain stores do NOT like getting a bad reputation because there are one group of assholes at one store. |

What it has to do with Disney, is that if Disney employees are being scammed at a store because that store is luring people into the store with a Disney discount, then they are using Disney's name to rip off Disney's employees.
Disney likes to think of itself as a family, and they do not like having their family members ripped off, especially not while using the Disney name as part of their advertising (in the form of publicizing the discount). Disney could come down on them like a ton of bricks, and has done so in the past. Other than that .... nothing. ![]() |

Sorry - I can't see it stated anywhere in the original post that this store did offer a discount to Disney employees; the poster merely states that they get discounts in many stores. If this is indeed one of them then I agree that they should be informed.

However, after reading the post a second time, I agree with you that it was not stated as fact. The discounts were just sort of thrown out there as a part of the general conversation. So, if it was not a store that offers Disney discounts, naturally Disney isn't going to give a hoot about the store's behavior. However, those stores that do get a plug from Disney by offering discounts to Disney cast members (what they call their employees), guard that extra advertising ... seriously. Even a 10% discount doesn't prevent them from getting a good profit on their goods, and the extra business that Disney throws their way amounts to quite a hunk of change. Carry on ..... I don't think I'll be here much for the next day or two. Way more to do than I can handle. |

If your girlfriend paid for it with a credit card, have her return it for store credit...THEN demand a charge back from the credit card company saying you returned the item. (there may be a separate policy for foreign credit cards.)

Park security told them they had to leave (and change into something without Disney characters on it) or buy something else in the official Disney stores to wear in the park. Couldn't have clothes on guests that looked nicer than anything being sold in the Disney stores, now could you? It would be one thing if the T-shirts had violated copyright with "bootleg" designs, but this was legally purchased fabric from a big fabric-store chain. |

Yes, the store offered her a discount on account of her being a Cast Member. I thought I had put that somewhere on the original post.. must have slipped my mind later.
No news as of yet, she hasn't had a day off these days so she wasn't able to go to the store. |

Hey guys, thought I'd post a follow up here...
Unfortunately there's no good news, she went to the store and said as RickyMaveety advised but the manager's reply was merely: ok, sue me. The guy told her that when he funded that store he wrote his "no change, no refund" policy and that when he'd get "our lawyer's lawsuit" he would simply sent him his copy of the receipt and the store policy as he had done several times before. I have to say that was unexpected. From what my girlfriend tells me, the guy seems like one of those full time crooks. It's a shame she's tiny and looks so sweet otherwise results might have been different... So, to sum up, I'm still stuck with 505 apparently... Thanks anyway RickyMaveety, it was a good try though |
