You can set them to 1 in the Kobo conf file.

That said, I do insert widows/orphans: 1 in the css of all my ebooks, after removing the default w/o from the css. Both operations can be done in bulk.

Before I switched to mostly using Kobo's Webkit/Readium based renderer, I used to use the Disable orphans/widows avoidance patch and then switched (2020???) to using:

readingAdobeOrphans=1
readingAdobeWidows=1

However, I still use widows/orphans=1 in my CSS since I vaguely remember the patch was to RMSDK and the Reading section also only affected RMSDK.

When I add my own CSS, widows and orphans are then set to 1.

@Siavahda - You can detect the presence of book specific conversion settings with the attached python template (courtesy of @chaley).

Book specific conversion settings can be removed via Bulk MDE



If you convert using the default settings, those settings will be stored as book specific settings, and they will be used if you convert again. You must remove the existing book specific settings if you want to apply revised default conversion settings.
