Well, the easiest way is if you have a custom recovery that can install updates that aren't the current system.
For rooting you normally have to turn off verity mode in abl. The commands have been removed from abl to do that. So you need a custom abl. I don't think it's a good idea to use an abl from another manufacturer. |

After hours and hours of trying to revive it, I think I’m giving up.
I’ve reflashed everything—Chinese, global—but nothing works. The device enters fastboot mode at startup (but it's read-only). The one thing that gave me hope is that I can access EDL and do whatever I want there, and I’ve tried several solutions. When I downloaded the logs from EDL—logfs, rawdump, and logdump—there’s only one error listed: “disk error.” For now, it’s just an expensive paperweight. If anyone has any ideas, I’m willing to give them a try. |

I think you've gotten your poor device all confused.
You can't manually flash the changed partitions back to stock Chinese? |

Not wanting to give up, this morning—out of curiosity—I asked Qwen (a Chinese AI) if maybe some Chinese website had documentation. And I made a little progress: I managed to unlock the device by following this guide (https://github.com/dynamicfire/boox-p6pro-root).
Now I have full control over fastboot, including write access, and everything is more manageable, but I still can’t get it to boot normally or into recovery mode. The a/b partitions, which it previously flagged as unbootable, are now marked as OK, but there’s still something preventing it from booting, and it no longer shows a disk error. So the device is alive! I suspect the DTBO; maybe some small hardware component is different. |

Ok, some have reported future problems flashing abl from FP4.
I wouldn't know (or care). |
