Calibre is wrong about which versions of a book are on my device - Page 2

There are times you just need to break the basic column rules

and add stuff to solve the duped issue
For Title, I might add (original) or (Vol 1) (sometimes the title and series end up the same because the author did not come up with a nifty title for each book

)

I found Calibre sometimes treats things in ( ), the same as without.

Joe (illus)
Mary (trans)
Martha (ed)

all SORT where they would if the ( ) stuff was not there

For Series with the same name, I 'tie break' the name by adding the creators initials: Magic (AN)
As for Author lists (collections)
I repurposed my {#pseudo4} (the cover named one goes in Authors) column (things evolve as you use them, so

me ) and put the list there and the normal {authors} just gets the editors (usually as shown on the cover). I made a couple of Preferences: Searching: Grouped searches to allow for searching both at 1 git-go
(if the editor also has a story, their name will also be in with the others.

I think he was referring to series where two or more authors use the same series name. For instance, Christopher Paolini's The Inheritance Cycle (Eragon, Eldest, Brisingr & Inheritance) and A. K. Faulkner's The Inheritance series (Jack of Thorns, Knight of Flames, Lord of Ravens, Reeve of Veils, etc.). While the Paolini series name seems to strictly be The Inheritance Cycle, most metadata downloads return The Inheritance). Possibly conflating cycle and series?

So Eragon, The Inheritance [1] and Jack of Thorns, The Inheritance [1], etc.

A quick check in my calibre library shows at least 7 series names used for different series.

I have many identical series names. I can't be bothered to think up ways to make them different. As I almost never use the series tab on my Kobos, I don't really care about their being identical.

Magic (by itself) has 5 unrelated

BTW how do you search for series with ( ) in them?

My record holder is a series name that was used by 4 authors. The total seems to be 11 series names that are used by more than one author.
