Yes, and I'll have to switch to it after June 30. But I had a few purchases in older formats that I couldn't disinfect with 2.7 version and AFAIK the new app doesn't work with those either. 2.9.1 does work with older formats.

I'm having big trouble doing this
I got this far: Download Books via USB: Go to your Amazon account on your browser, navigate to Manage Your Content and Devices, locate your book, click the three dots for "More Actions," and select Download and transfer via USB. (Note: You may be prompted to select a registered Kindle device).
I go to Content and Devices (there's no manage part), there's no three dots to click, there's no option to transfer and download via USB
I use amazon.co.uk

Download & Transfer via USB has been removed from Amazon. To remove the DRM, you need Windows 11, the latest version of the Windows Store Kindle app, and the 10.0.23 version of DeDRM as well as calibre with the KFX Input Plugin.

That's as much as I can say in the open.

Most instructions found online no longer work, as Amazon has disabled the older methods. Here are instructions for the currently working method:

Then you're out of luck, unfortunately. There aren't really any other reliable methods for removing the Kindle DRM. Some folks have jailbroken their eink Kindles and can still use them to get Kindle books out of Amazon, so you could google for this. Anything older than a couple of months is likely outdated and no longer working.

Unfortunately at this stage in Amazon’s war against DRM you are better off getting or keeping a kindle for your existing Amazon books and going forward buying on Kobo or from DRM free source (not Amazon) for your Sage.
