You can turn off and leave off the wi-fi on your K3 and then do a chat with Amazon CS and ask them to remove that kindle from your list of registered devices on Amazon.com. I had to do that for a kindle that I wanted to sell, and forgot to deregister it before the cut off date. Since wi-fi is off on the kindle (and won't connect to Amazon even if you turn it on), it will stay "registered" which means you can work with Collections and change the time. But as far as Amazon is concerned, it won't be on your account, so won't count toward book limits.
