If you have 1000 books synced from Calibre to justRead and you change on book in justRead and hit the sync back, only this one books is there available to sync back. And even there you can deselect it to now sync back., so you can test it with one and only one book.

Ah, I didn't think of the reading history setting. That solves my concern. I have many finished books so may wait until you release a version that downloads from Calibre those set columns to get my Calibre and justRead libraries totally synced up. Thanks for this exciting new release!

I too look forward to the version that can download initial state for many of those fields, but especially read/unread.

I'm trying to get it to work just for uploading the status of newly read books.
I'm using the automatic connection to calibre. I have worked out that I need to enter the field names for the calibre mapping, that the grey text is just a suggestion I now have the "Send to Calibre" menu appearing on the menu list But when I select a book to sync, I get an error that Anonymous user are not allowed to make changes. I do have a user set up in calibre server. How can I add that username and password to the calibre connection? (BTW, I really like the failure reporting now on syncing operations. Grouping failures and giving proper error messages - great!) |

First you have to set up a user in calibre. In the settings of the content server is the option to set a user and there you define your username and password. After this you have to disconnect your calibre library in Justread.App and connect again. Then you are asked to put in your username and password. This should work then.

Now the connection asked for a username and password. I expect the sync back will work this time. |

Unfortunately, as I somewhat feared, justRead doesn't have the concept of "not set" for Yes/No data, so the book I tested on, which in calibre had the #read column unset, when sent back to column changed that to a No, not unset. I currently take advantage of the trinary nature of calibre's yes/no column, and in the #read field, Yes means I've read it, No means I want to read it sometime in the future, and unset means I'm keeping it purely for reference or searches, but I don't intend to actually read it cover-to-cover. It would be nice if justRead could support this trinary state when it reads from the calibre columns, as well as writing back to them. If not, I'll have to adjust my use of calibre, and switch to using the "Want to Read" column that justRead has, although I was hoping to keep that for the next 10 or so books I intend to read, rather than the entire 700+ that are in my TBR pile at the moment. |

New information about updating that sync FROM Calibre TO justRead.
If those Calibre columns are setup, they are also syncing Calibre -> justRead: - stars - finished YES/NO - finished date - progress - want to read Tested, working, will be in incremental update 2.4.1 |

So when not Finished Date, this parameter will not be updated back to Calibre. Will this be OK? |

Does it make sense to set the reading progress to 100 % automatically when the book is marked as read?

Hi, justRead has this philosophy (and maybe it is not right, let's discuss it).
Read progress and read/unread are two separated things. The reason for this is simple: let's say I am at 50% and I accidentally change the book to 'Read'. Now it is shown as 'Read' and 100%, but internally, 50% is saved as one parameter and 'Read' as second. So you can change that accidentally changed 'Read' state to 'Unread' again and voila... you are back at those 50%. But I get it... so when transferring to Calibre and Read state is set to 'Read', it should send 100%, the same way it is showing 100% in the app, right? Is that what you meant by your comment please? |
