OK, account login with password added, will upload a new version 2.0.1 in the afternoon.
Sorry for this, as I never entered that menu inside preferences. |

The Connection to my calibre server works (without password). But I have one question just for my understanding: when I sync my calibre library I don‘t have to define a library for exemple in iCloud? When I leave my home Wifi the books will be there offline and when I am back I can sync them with reading Position etc? And when I change something in calibre Justread.app will notice this as changed?
This would be for me the Jack of all trades… ![]() And one short annotation: the button for the one tap bookmark is hidden behind the header with title, author etc. and on my iPad I can‘t tap on it - no problem for me but maybe for others |

Hello Docuro
1. Some library has to be defined as the books have to be stored somewhere, but you can use (on start) even any empty folder, when you will use just this calibre sync 2. When you sync something, the books are copied into that library, so when you leave and will be offline, the books are still there for reading 3. When you change something in Calibre, that books is shown with tag CHANGED (there are three tags: new, changed and synced) - that is why there is (on left top) the selection menu to select just changed, new, etc. 4. Everything except raw books is synced to your cloud account (by everything I mean: progress, bookmarks, highlights, stats, ...), so when you uninstall the app and return back after a week, the first sync will download it all, so you not loose your data And thank you for that info about bookmarks button, as I am not using that top bar at all, I did not noticed it, but I will put in to front. |

I have one more maybe silly question: I mostly use my iPad for reading and sometimes my iPhone when I am not at home. When I chose a folder on iCloud for my calibre sync on my iphone will this folder sync to my calibre library on my iPad? Sync like a triangle? iPhone-iPad-iCloud-calibre? Or do both devices sync to calibre separate? Puh, I hope you understand what I mean.

Yes it will and that is exactly how I am using it now (and that was my initial idea to use justread.app).
Select a folder in icloud (the same) on as many devices as you want, and that is it. I have it now like this: 1. Calibre folder is in iCloud (it is to be seen on screenshot above) 2. justRead on iphone has this folder selected 3. justRead in ipad has this folder selected Whatever I change in Calibre (cover, tags, add book, remove, etc.) I wait a little (for iCloud to sync) and then just pull to refresh the library. When I want to test a book and bypass Calibre I simply put that book in that folder and test it in justRead on any device I have hand on at the moment. That also means... a book is in one location only and those three (calibre, justread 1, justread 2) just use it from that location. It also means, when you delete it (for example) from justread on iphone, it will not be accessible from Calibre (because the file does not exist), and justread (and dissapears when you pull to refresh). |

Where does Justread.app get the Metadata from? I did sync with calibre and in the library there are metadata which are definitely not in calibre. I don‘t like tags and description of the story and always delete those things in calibre. But now those information are back again in the library. How can this happen?

Hi Docuro, justread.app got metadata right FROM epub files.
I don't know if anyone even does this thing: I always press this button in Calibre (or simply CTLR+A for all books and hit this button). This writes everything I do in Calibre, right into the files. This is my standard way of doing things for few years now, because I always transferred my files to Kobo not using Calibre but directly. |

Thank you for this good tip! I didn‘t know this feature until now. And after using it, the unwished information in my library has gone!
Thank you again for your immediate and very helpful replies, even if the problem sits right in front of the screen

Looks like we are in the same boat :-).
Until today I did not know that you can have passworded access to calibre server content. After years of using Calibre, I am ashamed :-) |

Thanks for the update, i cleared out the old library, connected to calibre, filled in my user name and password and went to the first library ( i have divided my library into smaller ones as it is very large), selected all and they all 57 said synced. There is nothing else to click so I pressed the x. Just read is still empty and each time I go back the all say new, not synced.
About 15 minutes later I tried again and this time they read in, so for the moment all good. Last edited by Zebedi; Today at 04:17 AM. Reason: Update |

Hi Zebedi, when you select them all, did you sync them using the blue Sync button on the right bottom? I think you did but it is not described in your post, so I am just double checking.
Maybe try 'Clear Library' completely before this, or maybe you did this as you are writing "I cleared out the old library", or did you just delete the files? |

Yes I cleared the old library and the blue wheel kept trying to sync even the library was empty. Took some goes to get calibre to connect, restarted server and calibre eventually got it to connect and then when I went sync first library using the sync button it was as I described. For some reason when I kept trying they read in.

Quote:
You can see additional information about sync in Library, under '...' , Library Statistics, and there is a sync history. And there you can even turn off sync if you want to, so data are only at your device. Sync is syncing your progress, reading stats, highlights, bookmarks, ... NOT books, just every data about your reading and the books. The reason for this is simple: if you have multiple devices, all should have the same data for the books. And also, when you delete the app, all those info data are not deleted. So if you install the app after a month, for example, it will sync back from cloud: your stats, highlights, bookmarks, progress, etc. |
