Yep. Marketed as an economy, large form, eReader and sold in the U.S. (I believe) for $220.00. And it's not using Kindle DX era parts or features. It has the same size (and resolution) screen, but it's a newer generation E-Carta, has a touchscreen and a front light, more memory and weighs about 42% less than the DX Graphite. And its battery has twice the capacity of the Kindle DX (2200 mAh vs 1100 mAh). The CPU on the DX was a 400 Mhz CPU, the Lite has dual 1 Ghz CPUs. The Lite also has WiFi, and can download Adobe DRM books using the ACSM file. It supports 18 different eBook formats.

And, while still selling the Inkpad Lite, they also introduced the InkPad X Pro, with much higher specs. So two "10" screens" — one economical and one high end. It looks like the InkPad One is a replacement for the InkPad X Pro. Apparently they weren't happy with Android and decided to go back to Linux for their 10.3" reader. As for using the Mobius screen, I think that's a good ideal a large size reader.

And, yeah, I was surprised when PocketBook released a 150ppi screen, but when I saw the price it made sense. I don't know what the battery life is like on the InkPad Lite, but I know my Touch HD's battery is still very strong, and I purchased it in January, 2021. So PocketBook isn't making junk. They just have a lot more variety than the others.

At any rate, for what it's worth. The "Lite" name always means inexpensive for PocketBooks (which means non-cutting edge components).

The Inkpad X (without Pro) was released at the same time as the Inkpad Lite – the Pro version (Mobius, Wacom) came in 2024, after the merger with Big Me.

The ppi craze is pretty silly.

First Nexus 7 tablet 212 ppi. Got one for my husband. I tried to use it, could not. Yellow haloes around all text.

Second Nexus 7 tablet (2013) 300 dpi. No more haloes, I had my first tablet! I had tried looking at so many lower dpi tablets, at a Best Buy. NONE of them were usable for me.

PPI is not silly if it makes a difference in what you can use. True, I wouldn't need it so badly on e-ink, no yellow haloes around text there, but my eyes are more comfortable with it than without. I'm near-sighted.

And I have my iPad Air less than 35cm from my eyes right now. Different needs for different folks.

And EInk works completely differently from light-emitting screens.

I wonder if it is people who are becoming far-sighted and have to hold the ereader at a distance to read that get excited about the large format devices? They can increase the font, hold it at arm's length, and read in comfort. I am short-sighted, so I keep the ereader closer to my eyes, and large screen devices are less comfortable to use (weight and eye movement).

Didn't even realize there was a merger. I guess I haven't been keeping up for a while. So who ended up controlling whom? And who is (was?) BigMe?

For people with normal vision, the average reading distance is approximately 35-40 cm—this is the distance that causes the least strain on the eyes.

There was this Report.
The Pocketbook Android Notes devices (Inkpad X Pro, Inkpad EO, Color Note) have a Bigme user interface.
I have no idea what Bigme is or where it comes from - at least not from Boyue-Likebook; its successor is Meebook.

Page turn buttons are an extra cost and no no way a saving grace, Use the touch screen.

Just because you find them useless doesn't mean they shouldn't be available. My wife has arthritis and her fingers curl down. This makes touchscreens difficult because the fingernails touch the screen instead of her pads. Buttons don't care what part of your body makes contact.

It depends on the font.

For the fonts shipped with most eReaders, you are correct that it would be hard to tell the difference, because the fonts are designed for "easy reading" (e.g., large x-height, thick strokes, high contrast). If you use a font that is much more "delicate", the extra resolution is immediately apparent.

I have never in my life held a book as close as 16" (40cm) from my eyes.

When I was young, I was terribly nearsighted and needed glasses, but that gave me normal vision, and holding a book about 20" away (i.e., sitting in a chair with arms extended and resting on my lap) was what I did.

Now that I have had cataract surgery and have 20/25 vision with no external correction, I still hold books that same distance away.

The base font size I use for my e-reader is about 13 point.

Thanks. When I see a "BadeReader" article I leave without reading. Maybe that's why I missed it. The only thing I remember about Bigme (or at least I think I remember) is that it used GoFundMe to produce its readers. Maybe that's changed now (probably has).

I like page turn buttons. That's probably the reason my main reader is a PocketBook — that and it has ACSM built-in for DRM ePub downloads.
