You got that right! Where's the medical solution for replacing 8 hours of sleep with 1 hour plus some sort of simple treatment? What century is this???

I usually go to bed at 7:00 PM or earlier (TV has been hsit lately), read for an hour or two 'till tired and fall asleep. Then, WIDE awake at midnight. I lay and stare and wander and wonder about everything and nothing, having to wait until 3:00 AM for the early east coast news (four hours ahead of me) to come on satellite TV. I restrain myself to not make coffee untill 5:00 AM.

I may have a 20 minute nap after lunch.

You can do the math.

<--not me....me-->

You get used to it, trying to find things to fill the time is the hardest because I am eaily bored.

Yes, we all agree beds are nice but they can be put to much better use. Then again, so can almost every surface. But beds are soft.

Sleeping is a waste of time.
Staying awake is a waste of energy.
This is a dilemma.

I find that I get interested in something and keep doing it until I feel tired. And I don't tire easily. So my sleep pattern is incredibly irregular. It can be between four and six hours (at any time of the day or night) for a few days. Then I sleep round the clock, and repeat the process.

The worst lack of sleep I've ever had was during a finals week at college. With five days of studying I think in total I didn't sleep more than for 2 nights. The result was that I felt disoriented at the end, and that on the last final day, I almost overslept an exam (though I did oversleep the time I had planned to study for it).

I remember the days, reading under the blanket, with a flash light... Just wanting to finish that one chapter, meanwhile finishing the whole book. Then unable to sleep as I was digesting it all. And getting up at 7 to go to school again, after 3 or 4 hours of sleep...

Actually, I could keep awake much longer when I was younger. During my student days, I'd keep up all night (so, I love to play computer games and Civilization is highly addictive!) only to find out I stayed awake the whole night because the birds started to sing again

Right now, I usually go to bed at 21:30, read for an hour (or until I notice my PDA keeps turning off because I'm not reading fast enough) and get up at 06:00.

But, holiday is coming up, and I'll probably be in bed by 20:00 and awake by 7:00 then. That Swiss air always make me sleep so very well.

Ah, the Swiss air, *sigh*. I envy you Unfortunately I have to wait until the Easter holidays (March / April).

I need 7 hours sleep after a day in front of my desktop. On other days 6 hours are enough.

I hate going to sleep - partly because of the things I could otherwise be doing, partly because I've been having problems getting to sleep easily for a while; but when I eventually do, I then hate getting up.

This leads to an utterly ridiculous schedule of not going to bed til 1-2 am Sun-Thur, 2-3am Fri & Sat (and obviously getting to sleep a bit after that...), and getting up 7-7:30 Mon-Fri, and whenever I feel on weekends.

I have to get up for work at 3:30 a.m., and be at work at 5:00 a.m.
This means I have the rather embarassing bedtime of 8:00, although I sometimes go to bed earlier, and I sleep longer on weekends, so it averages to 8-9 hours per night.

I am so variable in sleep timings. Sometimes its 3 hours while some days can make me stick to the bed for 12 hours.
