Hah. Shudda known better. Going to the smallest setting in the line spacing adjustment, I was appalled to see the lines of my text jump apart. I kid you not. So the adjustment was only to get even more wasted space. I can't imagine what the largest spacing does, because once I realized I could recover the old setting I backed out of that section with haste. I don't want to do something irreparable.

I was using different fonts to mitigate this issue previously. Since then I've moved to Koreader, but I guess this thread can still be useful for someone:

No, unfortunately. I had put on 5.18.3 manually when it came out but the new features are not present. I wish there was a way to force those to become available.

Same here, I’ve had 5.18.3 on both my Scribe and my Colorsoft for several weeks now and neither has received the new formatting options yet, despite being online all this time and going through several restarts. Not sure what games Amazon is playing.
