For the record... everybody tends to get the Wayland platform plugin warning. I'm using Cinnamon X11 and I still get it.
The AppImage currently checks what desktop is being used (via xdg) and sets QT_QPA_PLATFORMTHEME TO gtk3 if the DE is Gnome or xfce. It seems to be theming pretty well on Gnome, Cinnamon, Plasma/KDE. So if you're using something different setting your own QT_QPA_PLATFORMTHEME is definitely the way to go. The Qt xcb platform is definitely distributed with the AppImage (in fact it's the only platform plugin) So I'm not entirely sure why you had the specify QT_QPA_PLATFORM. I'll look into it. Ignore that last. My head is spinning from all the debugging lately. I was definitely seeing the error message on Ubuntu Gnome and not my Arch system. Sorry. Setting the QT_QPA_PLATFORM to xcb is definitely the way to silence that warning on Wayland.
Maybe sometime down the road, I'll look into distributing the Wayland platform plugin. |

@DiapDealer,
It would be interesting to include a wayland qpa platform plugin built on that older linux just to see if it can be used. I can fire up my Linux box under wayland for testing it quite easily if that helps at all. |

For the record, DiapDealer, my US 24.04.2 uses the X server and not Wayland. I had display problems when I first installed 22.04 and they were put down to Wayland not playing nicely with my graphics card. So I reverted to X11.
Curiously, when I made the clean install of 24.04, I don't remember re-selecting X11 but I did just check and I'm still on X11. Must have picked up a config setting on my /Home disk. |

I've not had a lot of luck with Wayland myself. I check out it's progress on my Cinnamon desktop occasionally and quickly revert to X11. It's getting better, but it's still nowhere near primetime in my opinion. OSes and DEs sure keep treating it like it's ready, though.
