Slow Start up for Calibre - Page 2

Once calibre is force closed then it will open straight away. I then restarted in debug mode and it gave this below but it can always restart.

Where (what drive) is your Library?
Calibre libraries MUST BE on a local drive that is NOT actively cloud/NAS connected

Take some time and review the FAQ's at the Calibre Hepl site. They may save you frustration in the future.

Several months ago I had the same problem and posted here. It appears the culprit was Google Drive. I had to move the library out of my Documents folder which was getting backed up automatically Google Drive. It's now in a folder by itself which is not backed up to Google Drive. Now it takes a few seconds to open instead of 5 minutes.

You should do a validation on your library as using Google Drive like you did can corrupt it.

fixed this issue for me.
Restoring the database is faster in Calibre 8.7 than it was in the past. 👍

There may be a faster way to do what you did. If the slowdown was caused because of all the deleted entries, you can compress the database instead of rebuilding it.

Just click on the icon with the library name and select Library maintenance and then check library.
