I would not say that is 'opposite' especially given your special cases. Maybe you are very particular and I am less particular. There are definitely fonts which I won't eat, or that trigger disgust.

I will admit that spending several years working with fonts did leave me a bit opinionated on which fonts I like, which ones I don't and which one I wouldn't waste disk space on. I am not happy when I am reading and a poorly designed (again, in my opinion) font drags me out of the book.

For me, from the default ones it is Baskerville. It renders very well. Downloaded I like Garamond, which is a bit narrower than the previous one. The one I am using has lovely double and triple ligatures. Somehow, when reading Asimov and some other classic scifi, I like to use Futura.

I like Sans fonts, so I've downloaded: Exo 2 (B0 S7), Ubuntu (B0 S7), Oxygen (B1 S7)
I like Ember too. |

I love te classical feel and elegance of EB Garamond.
It also reminds me the paper books, as this is the font most French publishers still use. |

Adobe Jenson Pro, if you have access to it, looks great on a Paperwhite.
