If you connect the kobo do you see something like 'Connected to X: (Y collections, Z books). in the caption of the program? That means the database is successfully opened and you should see your books and collections.

Sorry, I thought I could make a new collection without being tied directly to the e-reader. It was interesting to create my collection on the PC and then sync it with the Kobo.

For my app, the kobo needs to be connected because it needs access to the kobo database.
