You can turn off using the page turn buttons to wake the device. That's how I fixed it.

That works.

The problem with such an option is that it just takes something to press hard enough on the cover to press the button to wake it up and then battery drains and/or page turns.

I don't know if this is what is causing your issue, but I've found that if I switch books, and change fonts, sometimes when I got back to the previous book, the changed font carries into the new book and the reading position is lost.

Usually it jumps back for forward a few pages. Sometimes it jumps to the beginning of the chapter.
