You mean less risk. You might forget to close an instance.

I've never closed an instance of calibre when running another. Most of the time i use calibre on the laptop.

The last person I talked to who learned the lesson about not having multiple copies of calibre open to access their library forgot that his main computer was running an scheduled task to auto-add books. He was accessing his library over a network share from his laptop to update metadata when that task ran. We spent some quality time recovering his library.

So I agree with what @theducks wrote. Just Don't
