isn't the best way to delete a folder and stay offline? i know it worked on my matcha basic. It would show one of the default screensaver at all times. I ended up paying to remove ads mostly cause 1) i hated the fact i still had to swipe after powering on 2)i wanted book covers too since i use my kindle without case 3) price in my country is 10€

I'm not by any means an Amazon groupie but at the end of the day one also has to acknowledge that a Kindle with ads is a subsidized Kindle which sells for a lower price because it has ads; that part of the deal should be quite clear from the onset to any prospective buyer.

So the 20$ fee is not really a "cost to remove ads", it's money for the hardware which was not paid upfront when the Kindle was purchased, and in fact it's pretty nice to have the option to pay the difference and make a Kindle ad-free even after the purchase.

After sitting and pondering for months and months about my dilemma, and then running up and down the city streets in a demented state - as in 'It's a Wonderful Life' (what would life be like without Special Offers?) - and then throwing temper tantrums at various people, in addition to creating endless posts on any number of websites - some that had nothing to do with ebooks; in fact, one site dealt with the science of mixing concrete - and then finally, at my wit's end on how to overcome Special Offers, I reached what I consider a reasonable solution by simply paying $20.

I now sleep like a baby (except for the snoring).
