I wouldn't buy an eink reader without frontlight, but that said, I read on my Kobo Mini in outdoor light only, and it's fine. Lamplight/indoor light doesn't do the trick.

I would have bought a hypothetical Elipsa if:
- it was available without the stylus and without the note taking - if the note taking actually worked well But it will probably be released on the same day as the aforementioned 600 DPI Sage that weights less 200g and has 6 weeks of battery life ![]() Last edited by DJUNGELSKOG; 11-17-2024 at 06:46 PM. |

If the device is also the same kind of gray as the screen and has buttons all over the place it's an instabuy! |

I'd settle for a Kobo Sage with a bigger battery, without meaningfully increasing the weight. That's it. Really. I'm perfectly happy with the screen resolution, the device speed, etc. Just give me a device that lasts longer without becoming too heavy to hold for long periods of time.
Then I can give my old Sage to a family member who has been "meaning to move away from Amazon" for awhile and buy the new one guilt-free. |

Is there an eInk plastic screen that's at least as good as Carta 1200?

You can get a Mobius Carta 1300 screen. Though the development kit is quite a bit overpriced, you need to be a commercial entity to order one and hope that the kit you want does not show as out of stock.

Plastic substrate screens are only for non-ridged chassis. They are not as good for the TFTs.
