You guys need a public library. I buy ebooks, maybe 1 or 2 a month, but get 20 free ebooks every three weeks online from my library. A non-resident card for the NYC library is only $100 per year if your own library is wanting.

That wasn't including the free ebooks I've downloaded.

Let’s see........ I got my reader in September, that’s 5 months ago, and I bought 6 books since then (all from A Song of Ice and Fire and 2 dictionaries).
So I chose 1 ![]() Far too many free books to read.... I want to buy Pratchet; I want to buy Martin Cruz Smit... But my free reading-list is still far too long (as you can see from my signature)

I cannot vote. I haven't bought a single one in about one year since I have my Cybook.

There's no "none" option so I chose "1". I have enough public domain mystery books for years, so I don't buy any new books.

I also fall in the less then one category. There is a lot available to read and I do not buy books with DRM since I want to show my opinion about DRM.

It varies a lot. Generally, it's less than 1 a month. I often re-read books and I don't have the time to read all the books I want (I got so many books waiting for my attention!)

Mostly I tend to buy a bunch at a time rather than some every week. The exception is when a new book comes out that I have been waiting for. For example, in December I bought about 35 books in three bunches & will probably not buy any more for a while but I bought "At Graves End" by Jaeniene Frost this month when it came out.

I bought my Kindle on release day last November and I now own 317 Kindle books. That doesn't count what I've bought from Fictionwise, which probably accounts for another 50 or so. And Baen, I buy there also...
Yeah I got a baaaaad habit. But I love my Kindle, it's the best gadget I have ever owned, |

I buy at least 8 a month - the Baen webscription month, plus a subscription to Analog, Asimov's and F&SF. That only comes to about $22/month. But then there's new releases and back catalogues.... Checking back, it seems my average ebook budget over the past 6 years has been $55/month. Last edited by pdurrant; 01-13-2009 at 11:24 AM. Reason: adding budget info |

It's not too hard.
Baen Webscription: $15 for six or seven books (although if your have all the webscriptions, it is only 4 new books) Two year subscriptions to Analog, Asimov's and F&SF - $7.70 per month, and that's counting the fictionwise club memership too. Only 2.5 books per month though, as they only publish ten a year. Fictionwise special offers mean the remaining $8.30 should buy you at least two books a month on average. So - $30/month gets you between 8 to 12 new books per month. |

Having a Kindle can be very bad for me if I don't police myself. Using the Wispernet is just too easy. Not counting free books I would guess that I do about 2 a month but sometimes I go crazy. I purchased and read all 8 C Harris Vampire books in 2 weeks. I try to do a month of paid books then a month of free books.

I chose 4. Like everyone else, each month it varies. I assumed that "purchase" meant paid money for, so I didn't include any of the books I download that are free. I also didn't include the pbooks I buy every month
