Did you also right click properties on the eBook Library icon and select compatibility mode for Vista?

It installs fine with Windows 7 32-bit. It's running it that is the problem. Use the troubleshoot compatability option to get it to work.

The only solution I found was to revert to Vista. Not what you want to hear I suspect.

No, it's not what I wanted to hear.

The sony reader is the ONLY program I use that I have had problems installing on Windows 7. Strange.

The computability mode doesn't work nor does the troubleshooter.

I really like Win 7 and will continue to use it as my main OS (until MS stops us between the final beta tests and the release of the commercial edition).

I keep Vista on one of my other drives and keep all my data updated so going back to vista when I need to is only a small inconvenience.

Still, if it would install and work it would be nice.

Thanks,

I replaced my PRS-500 with a PRS-505 this weekend, and it is working great in my Windows 7 x64 installation via VMWare Fusion on my MacBook Pro. I didn't have any problems installing the software. I only needed to run the compatibility troubleshooter to get the software to run after installation.

I am running windows 7 32bit. I couldnt install ebook library 2.5.

amazingly the microsoft auto-help had the answer:
-----------------------------------------
Solve a problem with Windows 7 beta

An issue with the Customer Experience Improvement Program (CEIP) client in Windows 7 beta is causing Explorer and some MSI-based installers to stop working properly.

To solve this problem, follow these steps:

Click the Start button , click All Programs, and then click Accessories.

Right-click Command Prompt, and then click Run as administrator. In the User Account Control window, verify that Program name is Windows Command Processor, and then click Yes.

In the Administrator: Command Prompt window, type or paste the following text at the prompt:

reg delete HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\SQMClient\Windows\Disabled Sessions /va /f

Press Enter to install the solution.

this worked like a champ. once installed, i still needed to allow for vista compatability mode to get the program to fire off. Hope this helps.

I did not need to delete any registery entries. I just used the compatability troubleshooter and it worked to allow eBook Library 2.5 to run with Windows 7 32-bbit.

the reghack was needed to install the software, the compatablility setting allows the app to run.

did you upgrade from vista, or do a fresh install to windows 7? I did a fresh install and had to install the sony software anew, thus needing the reghack.

Windows 7 32-bit is installed on my Wife's computer as a fresh install. All we did to install it was just install it. It did not run so we needed to use the compatability troubleshooter. Then it worked. No registry entry was ever hurt druing the install of eBook Library 2.5.

weird,

whenever i tried to install it it would throw an error. did you somehow disable the windows feedback function? i think that was what the reg hack disabled.

Worked for me. Windows 7 x64 RTM automatically selected Windows XP SP3 as the compatibility option, though. Seems like something is hardcoded in the executable to only run on supported OSes.

Intwtl,

Microsoft does have an official Windows 7 RC Support Forum located here http://tinyurl.com/9fhdl5 . It is supported by product specialists as well as engineers and support teams. You may want to check the threads available there for additional assistance and feedback.

I use windows 7 x64bit. After setting the compatibility setting to 'Windows XP Service Pack 3', the program worked just fine

I had no problems with version 2.5 of the library (under Windows 7 64-bit), however version 3 would install but not run. First I tried compatibility setting Vista 64-bit, that way I could start the program, but I still had some problems, the library froze up quite often. XP service pack 3 compatibility seems to work.
