Not sure if this is what was being referred to but if you hit a lower case i when you have a book selected in the main library interface, it'll pop up a version of the details pane. See attached image for what it looks like on my system.

Odd for me, if I hit 'I', the selected line jumped to the first title starting with 'I'. A lower case 'i' opens the popup book details pane. Which is a bit weird since the shortcuts preference shows a 'I'. I did a restore to defaults and the behaviour doesn't change.

I change/remove single alpha key shortcuts, and I have this setting:

Just tried with a new install of calibre on a Debian 12 VM. When I tap 'I', it jumped to the first title starting with I, when I tap 'i', it opens the book details popup.
