It's possible that Kobo has updated their Adobe Content Servers. The newer server software will try to negotiate the DRM scheme to use which your Pocketbooks' software may not happy with. I would suggest the downloading using either ADE or, if you are using calibre, the ACSM plugin would be your choice going forward.

Quite a few people had similar complaints when Google Play updated and issues were noted with downloading ebooks.

You can open the .acsm with another program on your smartphone (e.g. ADE or any other with DRM support) and once open send the book to your PocketBook device. You wouldn't have to use a computer (although it's certainly strange that the PocketBook app doesn't work).

Edit: I've been trying other apps on my smartphone and I can't open books downloaded from Kobo.

The Tapatalk images are viewable; you just have to put in extra work to bypass the forum's broken image proxy. Right click on the image and copy the link, and you'll see this:

Delete everything in front of the # to isolate the actual image URL:

Open this in a new tab to view the image. Hopefully the staff will fix this some day.

Thanks - that makes sense. I can download via ADE as usual, I’m just annoyed to lose the option of doing it all without access to a laptop. It pushes me back to Kindle if I want to buy a book and listen to it immediately when I’m out and about. But it was obviously always dependent on a number of uncoordinated sets of programming just happening to align, so it’s maybe not surprising that it broke.

I’m not sure which forum to ask this in, so if there’s a better place please point me to it. Although I also have and use a Kobo Libra, I most often download Kobo books on to use on my Pocketbook device or app (which have my Adobe DRM account installed) because they do text to speech. I’ve previously just been able to use the Kobo download feature and the ascm file fulfilled seamlessly in the app or on the device. Now that is giving me a fulfilment error. Downloads from Libby still work, so has something changed with Kobo? Thanks. (I can still download and transfer via ADE on a laptop but I used to be able to do it instantly in my phone.)
I'm running into the same issue with my PocketBooks. The change must be at Kobo because I haven't changed my PocketBook's firmware recently.

Have you tried doing this on a phone or tablet? There are sites that don't seem to suffer from paranoia about 3rd party links being used but that seems to be the wave of the future.

BTW, quoting the message and copying the image URL from the quote is still a pain but keeps you from having to edit the URLs.
