I was talking about Virtual Library switching, no starting Calibre (also slow for me on a i7 with gobs of free RAM).

My Media library has 160,000+ books, and 7 VL's based on the tags and/or #admin-tags. Switching between VL's using next and previous kb shortcuts is more-or-less instantaneous.
Switching between my 8 physical libraries takes 2-4 seconds, start up times are similar. Libraries are on a WD Black Caviar HDD via a 6Gb/s SATA III interface. Added: Start up times are slower if the HDD has spun down… more like 10-15 secs. BR Last edited by BetterRed; 12-27-2023 at 08:38 PM. |

Switching to my main library with 35 000 or so books takes several seconds, but not 30. Switching to a smaller library with 3000 books takes a second or two. This is on my main laptop with a SSD and i7.
