Is it worth getting the Oasis 3 refurb over a new paper white for the screen only?

It is not. I love my Oasis 3 and it's my favorite device- the Paperwhite 5 screen is also excellent. I don't see a reason to change to between the two on the screen quality alone. More light count with Oasis 3 but between the PW5 I can't see a difference if they are both lit up

Hello Barty, many kindles in our house, Oasis 3 has the nicest screen for reading, with the glass and the light, the text looks better to me than on the PW5 and Scribe. Currently I use my Oasis 3 and Kobo Clara 2E for reading and the Scribe for puzzles (downloaded daily from a newspaper). I can set my Oasis to have a lovely light that appears sepia and very much like an old manuscript. I find it very aesthetically pleasing. As long as you are OK with having to charge it pretty much daily. If I’m going on a trip, I take my Clara.
