Hal Clement's _Space Lash_ was quite thought-provoking and a book which I continue to recommend.
Hal Gordon's _Divers Down! Adventures Under Hawaiian Seas_ pretty much defined my work ethic: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/...39-divers-down |

As for a Hawaiian adventure defining your work ethic, I must say that my first thought was: gone fishin'.

Slaughterhouse-Five by Kurt Vonnegut.
Freshman in college and my creative writing professor said hey, you might like Kurt Vonnegut. She recommended Breakfast of Champions. It was great! I then started exploring his catalog, hit SH5, and I've been reading ever sense. |
