Thanks. I didn't know that.

Good to know you have an empty data folder also. I was starting to wonder what was wrong with my setup as nobody else has posted having the same issue.

They may not have noticed, how come you noticed?

After adding two empty books to the fresh portable, I closed it because I wanted to find a couple of specific M3Us in my Media library and copy them to the desktop. Once I'd done that I opened the portable folder to start it, and saw the stray 'data' folder.

For me it was simple. The \data\ folder was being created on my desktop, so I noticed it when I minimized all my open windows.
