If you do: try renaming it to calibre_save and then start calibre - hopefully you should get the calibre welcome wizard.

Okay, I tried this. Didn't work. Don't get me wrong, I get the welcome wizard and it installs, just doesn't update on the program to 6.14.0.
In Roaming I now have Calibre, calibre-ebook.com and calibre2. I also have calibre-cache, calibre-ebook.com and caliber-parallel in AppData/Local.Will deleting the cache folder help in any way?
I will look for the FT button when I install again. I didn't notice it lately, but wasn't looking for it specifically.

After the uninstall, have you checked that Calibre actually really IS gone?
Somehow your attempts to open Calibre point to the wrong EXE. Why? Sorry, I don't know! But maybe this C:/D: could play a part. The old EXE must still be around somewhere!
(I don't know much about the workings of Windows, but I'm usually pretty good at brain-storming even about things I know nothing about, so I thought I'd at least try...)

That is not correct. Calibre2 folder should not be in Roaming
The Local ones are correct as they are more temporary stuff related.

I was wondering about that too! My Calibre2 folder is in c : program

That's where mine is as well. But you said you also has a Calibre2 in Roaming. Check the content of both those folders! Do one or both of them have the Calibre file with a 6.xx version? If not, what do they have?

The Calibre2 folder is the one I renamed in order to try installing again. It will now be deleted.

It was a mixup between C: and D: drives! But no idea why I got Calibre 5.29 even when I started from the EXE on C: that was version 6.14.0??!!

There is still no FT button on the top left. BetterRed, is this an option you changed?

In any case, thank you all for the help! It took all of you to get me to the solution!

FT is in the search bar. (the search bar needs to be visible) The button to hide is in the lower Right corner

The FT icon I posted is the default. Because it's not obvious as to what it is in dark mode, I found an alternative to use as an override:
