The battery looks to be custom made for the Aura One. I have no idea how hard it is to get a replacement, but I'm guessing they won't come cheap. |

I hear you. (Or rather, I read you.) ![]() I do wish, however, that my Oreo One/Aura One had better touch control when selecting something - as in typing something. My Libra/Libre/Libro/Frank reader is spot on. One must, however, exercise caution and not use it as a substitute for a place mat, especially when eating toast for breakfast. ![]() |

Hmm... this is really very strange, but despite the conversation about Libre vs Libra, and Oreo vs Aura, I simply had not realised that I was typing it wrong. Until Dr Drib's most recent post, I was like, "what are you on about".
If a moderator could correct the thread title that would be appreciated. Seems I have a blindspot somewhere ... I ... um ... probably shouldn't be allowed out unsupervised. Who knows what I'll end up buying online with a blindspot like this one, I mean, it's not like the Libra was free. I think I might go and lie down. |

And there’s the nub of it, really, and I don’t think it’s cited often enough.
It’s a given that people here have a gadget lust*, to a greater or lesser extent. But even so, at least for me…. Back in the day, new ereader models could represent leaps in what they replaced: touch screen, front light, higher resolution, warm light, waterproof, larger size, and I bought a bunch. But for me, the Aura One was the end of that period. Other than adding back buttons**, changes have been incremental*** since. The Aura One checks all the boxes, mine works, and Kobo wants $269.00**** for its upgrade. Can’t do it. When it goes paws up***** the situation will change, although I still think I’ll be slow to move — certainly waiting on a sale price and perhaps on a newer version, depending on timing. In the meantime, good enough is quite good enough indeed. *I did indulge the gadget lust within the last year with a PW5 when a terrific deal came along. I still prefer Kobos but especially given the changes at Amazon it’s pulling its weight. A good purchase in retrospect. **I missed buttons when I switched from Sony to Kobo, but I got over it. Now I see the change in form factor to accommodate them as a drawback. ***I’m not interested in larger than eight inches. ****There was a point sometime last year when combining a sale price with the perkopolis code knocked the price down almost to $200. That was the time to jump, if a jump were to be made. *****All five of my Kobos are still functional, so fingers crossed. Obviously the above should be taken with a huge dollop of MMV. Quote:

![]() Yes, the cookies do sort of look like a road that's being resurfaced. Tar. We call them Oreo cookies here in the U.S. |

Unless the sister is a minor, but of age to marry, and the brother is a Guardian, it's none of his business.
