Since Kindles have been mentioned, from what I've seen, they have a *lot* more software shenanigans going on with humidity sensors and the like to attempt not to fry everything ASAP at runtime ;o). I... have seen nothing of the sort in Kobo-land (save for the extremely irritating "your screen is wet" on old IR-grid devices ;p).

Empirically-minded posters will be pleased to hear that I accidentally tested this on Friday, with an Aura One and Epsom salts. It survived the encounter with no ill-effects. It was only in the tub for a couple of seconds, and I rinsed it at once in cold water. I suspect I'll be using a reading stand from now on.

On a slightly different note:

What is IPA in this context? I'm pretty sure you're not recommending rinsing in India Pale Ale...

I've never understood reading in the bath.
Sleeping, yes of course, but reading, for me, is for dry places.
Like Jon, I prefer a quick shower and a long dry read

On the three days a year it gets freezing cold here in Texas, sitting in a nice warm tub is a great way to fight the chill. I'm not John Lennon, so don't need to sleep in the bath.

I haven't dropped a reader in the tub yet, though I have dropped a book (ironically, it was Drop City by T. C. Boyle).

OP has already said that they have a longer bath to relieve physical symptoms. Lots of people with medical conditions/disabilities do this

Thank you, I sometimes have a long bath to easy my aching body too, but the warmth and quiet invariably have me asleep within minutes

I probably have some abstruse medical condition, as I can fall asleep almost anywhere anytime (except when driving of course), so in a hot bath sleep is guaranteed for me!

Not disrespecting in any way people who read in the bath, just saying why I don't need a bubble proof reader

Everyone is different

Ha! And I was reading a novel titled "Death by Water". The irony hadn't struck me until I read your reply. Perhaps that's the trick - avoid books with titles of dire portent.

If I was having a bath, I'd listen to an audiobook.

I never listen to audioooks, but I do love old radio shows and NPR. So I do enjoy longform audio stories. I guess with a story I would rather just read it than listen to it.

I listen to the radio in the bathtub! Be a bit noisy to have both that and an audiobook going at the same time.

I love reading in the bath. I use all my Kobo’s depending on what I am reading. I’ve never worried about bubbles and, so far, never dropped one. Probably tempting fate now
