Oh, and I did raise my max bid.........but only $5.........

And the final pic - for MJH - my beautiful bookcase is starting to fill up!
And I didn't even notice the thread, lol... Wonderful haul, and beautiful case. How often do you go to the auctions? Box lots are also a nice way to get frames.. Considering what you can spend on good frames and glass... Interestingly enough the most I've ever spent on a frame was done to annoy people... At one job I spent a minor fortune on a frame and museum glass (antiglare) for a poster of Buffy the Vampire Slayer... I enjoyed the show and no one else did so I decided to put up the poster, but I wanted it to look professional. Hence the couple hundred bucks in framing a $2 poster. Though I did chose a very tasteful one ...

desertgrandma - Congrats on the AC's! I'm sure you'll have fun reading all of them...

I'll go maybe once a month (more or less). I'll probably put the prints in like 5 dollar frames. I have this gorgeous etching that needs reframing- I bought it for five bucks because it has a big chunk of water damage, but it is mostly on the matte. I'll probably just go to Michaels though, I don't notice frames that much.

The title is "American Garden Book For City And Country" (with a little help from google - I couldn't translate city or country!). I'm sure someone will be able to do a translation of the rest of the text!

The book itself was first published in 1892, and the author is Hans Buschbauer. The original publisher was Germania Press, one of apparently many German-language publishers in Milwaukee at that period.

Awesome! PA has some old school Germans, so I think this family is one of them.

There weren't pictures, so I couldn't even begin to guess what is was about.
