[Mac] calibre quits after doing anything. How to recover? - Page 2

Well, as it happens, on my iMac, I have 3 keyboards installed (US English, Czech, and Russian), Input Methods IOW,. Nothing 3rd party. The Czech is so I can more easily enter Czech names in my genealogy db. And trying to re-learn what little Russian I once had.

And what of the MacBook Air (2020, M1)? calibre was working fine? But then I added Russian keyboard, and calibre started crashing. Removed it, restart (seems necessary to do this), and it no longer crashes.

I think we have a winner!

Yeah it looks like an issue with Qt 6 and macOS with multiple input sources. Hopefully will be fixed in a future Qt update.

I think the latest macOS update (12.5) broke Qt6; most likely it's Apple's fault. I didn't add these IMs recently, and wasn't having any issues until after the update IIRC. I assume the Qt people will work it out with Apple, and who knows what else the change broke.

And come to think about it, the new MacBook I set up with calibre was working, and only after the update arrived did the problems start. Except I think I added IM after this update.

FYI am able to have multiple keyboards and calibre is not crashing.

Was there a Qt fix? or did Apple fix it (I'm running latest Ventura and calibre 6.10.0)

Just curious.

There has been no update to the Qt shipped with calibre so must be a macos change.

+1 for Apple messing it up.
I've just installed Monterey and suddenly Calibre crashes when I edit a book first time (though OK second time??).
I keep reporting it and no doubt they may fix it eventually.

They did an update to Safari that totally messed up one of the functions I use, then quietly fixed it a couple of weeks later.
