One other thing I noticed.
In the error message it says that it is using: "User-agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:86.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/86.0" I assume that it is making a call to the search engine using Firefox Version 5 which is a really old version of Firefox. I am currently on Version 100. Could this be part of the problem? |

Your problem is Kaspersky. Period. And the firefox version in the user agent string is 86 not 5.

Kaspersky may be blocking the worker process folders used by the installed version of Calibre.

I reported the issue on the Kaspersky Forum and a Kaspersky Technical Moderator responded and investigated. Kaspersky responded quickly and were very helpful.
They downloaded and tested on Calibre 5.43 and found no issue. I then reinstalled Kaspersky and tested on 3 instances of 5.43 and 1 instance of 5.40. Again no issue. Obviously, having removed Kaspersky and the reinstalled Kaspersky will have been reset to its default position. The Kaspersky suggestion (assuming that Kaspersky was still installed and the problem continuing) was that I should try to: "restore the KL product settings to default (Settings-->Manage Setttings)" I provide this in case anyone else encounters the issue. Thanks for the assistance |
