Judging by the obvious OCR errors in many of the eBooks I buy, either these tools are not used by even some of the "big name" publishers, or else they really don't work that well.

The big name publishers don't spend any more time that they have to. They don't clean up anything that I can tell. I doubt they even run a spell checker.

I use MS Word for spellchecking, and convert it to HTML using Openoffice Writer to convert to HTML.
then prune the HTML with Notepad++ 9couple of search and replace options.

If I wanted to,I could use NVU, Kompozer, or MS Visual Web Developer 2008 Express Edition.
Then Bookdesigner 'cause of lack of programs.
All in all it just costs me one copy of Word, and a lot of time.
I'm currently doing some books, but it'd be awesome if I could get payed for converting books I like!

I'd probably also go by a $40 per smallbook, $60-120 per big book.
Especially books I like to read!
Since my interest lies with religion/christianity, I know not many will find the will to proof read these type of books, I could be a good candidate!

But it feels somewhat less fair why some can get payed for doing exactly the same thing as others do on this forum who won't get payed.
