Hide Calibre from dock in Mac

Each update, I need to re-apply the change. So, I haven't done that for some time.
Just noticed the latest release. I am unable to update in macOS. It reported "Corrupted database" (here is the screenshot) error. The moment I remove the change, it works again. So, that "hide dock icon" code change in Info.plist caused issued to the app.

Does Calibre add some checking to prevent us from updating it?
How should I get around it?

I think that kovidgoyal was reffering to the way to hide calibre icon from dock when the calibre is not running, hidding calibre icon from dock when its running needs modification of the plist file how the app is registersed

When I open multiple instances of calibre-viewer on macos, a new dock icon is opened. If I open up more than 5 books it becomes unwieldy. Is there a way to disable that behavior?

The default behavior on macos is only a single icon is shown per application (I think, I checked settings briefly to see if I was causing the problem.)
