Sorry for the garbled message. Calibre is running on Win 10 64 Pro. My tablet is set to file transfer mode every time, like you I do this manually each time. I can copy files from PC to tablet just fine, but get exactly the same "error communicating with the device" message from Calibre as that posted by others here

yes thats the only workaround. if there are errors reading from the storage on the device, calibre is not going to work with it.

Thanks for the prompt reply. One more reason to get a 2nd Kobo as my backup reader rather than use my tablet. 😊
